In general overheating is not good for GPU or CPU. Overheating can result in the decrease in the lifespan of the graphics card. There are various reasons for a GPU to get very hot and this happens only during cryptocurrency mining , heavy graphics processing tasks or gaming.
AMD, Nvidia , Asus, Gigabyte, EVGA and MSI are the
largest GPU manufacturers in the world. There
are various tools available on the internet for knowing the GPU temperature of
your graphics card:

- CPU-Z - download link here.
- Open Hardware Monitor - download link here.
- MSI Afterburner - download link here.

But in general
anything above 85 degree Celsius is a sign of worry. If the temperature of your
graphics card GPU goes above 85°C then you should take appropriate measures to
bring it down preferably in the 75°C – 80°C range or lower.
How-to Lower GPU
Temperatures ?
1. Getting
rid of the bags of dust that accumulated in the GPU could result to massive improvements
in temperature.
2. Replacing
the graphic card thermal paste.
3. Upgrade
the RAM to get the maximum performance out of graphic card.
4. Always use recommended drivers
from the graphics card manufacturer’s or GPU website:
